Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Aries thing, whatever it is. Sounds like somethin’ fancy, but I’ll try to make sense of it for ya, same way I’d explain how to shuck corn.
First off, they talk about this “Aeries BCSD“. Now, I ain’t got a clue what BCSD stands for, but it sounds important. Seems like it’s got somethin’ to do with school. They say if your young’uns already been in that there BCSD school, they don’t need no new HLS. Lord knows what HLS is, maybe some kinda permission slip or somethin’. Kids these days got so many papers to fill out, it’s a wonder they learn anythin’ at all.
Then there’s this here “Aeries Teacher Portal“. Sounds like a place where teachers go to do their teachin’ stuff. They say you gotta go to * and click on “Employees” and then “Employees Main Page” and then this portal thing. Sounds like a whole lot of clickin’ to me. They say you should “bookmark” it, which I guess means markin’ the page so you don’t lose it. Back in my day, we just remembered things, no need for all this fancy book-markin’.
- They also got this “Aeries Online Enrollment“, which I reckon is how you sign your kids up for school. It’s all done on the computer now, not like the old days when you just walked into the schoolhouse and talked to the teacher. They ask for all sorts of stuff, like who to call in case somethin’ happens to your young’un. Emergency contacts, they call ‘em. Makes sense, I guess.
- And the kids, them little rascals, they got their own “Aeries Student Portal.” They can see their classes and even get to somethin’ called “Google Classroom” and “Zoom.” Sounds like a whole lot of hocus pocus to me. When I was a kid, we just sat in a classroom and learned from a real person, not some picture on a screen. But times change, I guess. They can even check their grades online. No more hidin’ report cards from your ma and pa, I tell ya!
Then there’s this talk about “importing grades” into Google Classroom. Sounds like a whole lot of work for the teachers. They gotta take the scores from quizzes and put them in the computer. And sometimes they gotta grade them short answer things by hand. I tell ya, teachin’ ain’t easy these days.
There’s even somethin’ called “School Site Clerical Guides” and “Progress Reports”. Seems like there’s a guide for just about everythin’ these days. And they got an address, 1300 Baker Street, Bakersfield, California. Probably where all them smart folks workin’ on this Aries stuff sit. And somethin’ about “Human Resources”. Sounds like a place where they hire and fire folks. Every place needs somebody to do that, I reckon.
Now, they also talk about Aries birthstones and crystals. Now that’s somethin’ I can kinda understand. Like how certain flowers bloom at certain times, maybe certain rocks are lucky for certain folks. They say there’s a whole guide to it, but I ain’t got time for that. I got enough rocks in my garden already.

And then there’s somethin’ about “AriesMS” and a guide for beginners. Sounds like some kinda game the young’uns play. Probably one of them computer games where you shoot things or build things. Back in my day, we played outside, climbin’ trees and playin’ tag. But I guess times are different now.
Finally, they say Aries is a special program for Indigenous youth, ages 13 to 16. That’s good, I reckon. Every kid deserves a chance to learn, no matter where they come from. And there’s somethin’ about a “VPC” for the “Aeries Parent Portal”, but you gotta get it from the school. Sounds like a secret code or somethin’. And lastly, they mention a fella named Jerry D. Lloyd, the founder of Aeries. Guess he’s the one who started all this. Well, bless his heart, he sure made things complicated, didn’t he?
So that’s what I can make of this Aries thing. A whole lot of computer stuff, school stuff, and even some rock stuff. I tell ya, the world’s gettin’ too fancy for this old woman. But as long as the young’uns are learnin’, I guess that’s all that matters.
