Well, now, lemme tell ya ‘bout them Aries Merritt blue and yellow Reebok spikes. Folks been talkin’ ‘bout ‘em, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know? Even though I ain’t no fancy runner or nothin’.
I heard tell this Aries Merritt fella, he’s a runner. A real fast one, they say. Win medals and such. Gold medals, even. Imagine that! Runnin’ so fast they give ya gold. In my day, runnin’ fast just meant gettin’ chores done quicker. But this fella, he runs with them blue and yellow shoes, them Reebok spikes. Reebok, that’s a fancy name, ain’t it?
- He runs hurdles, they call ‘em. Little fences, I guess. Jumpin’ and runnin’ at the same time. Sounds like a good way to twist an ankle if you ask me.
- Folks keep sayin’ somethin’ ’bout “110 meters”. I don’t rightly know how far that is, but it sounds like a long ways to be jumpin’ over fences.
- And these shoes, these spikes…they must be somethin’ special if a fella like Aries Merritt wears ‘em. Blue and yellow, like a bumblebee or somethin’. Maybe they make ya fly, huh? I bet they cost a pretty penny, too. More than I ever spent on a pair of shoes, that’s for sure.
Now, back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy Aries Merritt blue and yellow Reebok spikes. We ran barefoot, mostly. Or maybe in some old worn-out shoes if we was lucky. Didn’t make us no slower, though. We still got where we needed to go. But I guess if you wanna be winnin’ gold medals and such, you gotta have the right gear. And these Reebok spikes, they seem to be the right gear for this Aries Merritt fella.
I saw a picture of them shoes once. Shiny, they were. And them little spikes on the bottom… look like they could do some damage if you stepped on someone’s foot. But I guess that’s the point, ain’t it? Gives ya grip, so you can run faster and jump higher. Makes sense, I suppose. Still seems a bit dangerous to me, though. All that runnin’ and jumpin’. I’d rather sit on the porch with a glass of iced tea, myself.
They say this Aries Merritt fella, he run real fast even before he got them fancy spikes. Ranked high up in the world, they say. But then, somethin’ happened in 2012. I don’t know the details, but it seems like he got even faster after that. Maybe it was the shoes, huh? Maybe them Aries Merritt blue and yellow Reebok spikes got some kinda magic in ‘em. Wouldn’t surprise me none. The world’s full of strange things these days.
I heard some folks talkin’ ‘bout new kinds of hurdle races. Different ways to run and jump. This Aries Merritt fella, he had some ideas, too. Seems like he’s always thinkin’ ’bout runnin’ and jumpin’. I guess when you’re good at somethin’, you just keep on doin’ it. And with them fancy blue and yellow shoes, I bet he can do just about anything he sets his mind to.

Anyways, that’s all I know ‘bout them Aries Merritt blue and yellow Reebok spikes. Fancy shoes for a fancy runner, that’s what I figure. Not for the likes of me, though. I’ll stick to my old slippers, thank you very much. But if you’re into runnin’ and jumpin’ and all that, then maybe these shoes is just what you need. Just be careful you don’t trip over them hurdles, ya hear?
And remember, runnin’ ain’t everything. Sometimes it’s good to just slow down and enjoy the view. Even if you ain’t wearin’ no fancy blue and yellow shoes.
But who am I to talk? I’m just an old woman who don’t know nothin’ ’bout runnin’ and jumpin’. But I do know a thing or two about shoes, and them Aries Merritt blue and yellow Reebok spikes, they sure do look somethin’ else.
So, if you ever see a fella runnin’ real fast with blue and yellow shoes, you can bet your bottom dollar that’s Aries Merritt. And you can bet them shoes cost more than a whole month’s worth of groceries. But hey, if it helps ya win gold medals, I guess it’s worth it. Just don’t ask me to wear ’em.
