Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this thing called a “Staff of Divination,” and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I got my hands on this staff, right? It’s all wooden and has these shiny stones popping out of it, kinda random-like. Looks pretty neat, I gotta say.
First off, I leveled up to 8, because that’s when the magic really starts happening. I slapped a basic Staff of Divination into my character’s hand and started experimenting. Then, I found this thing called a “Shifting Rune.” You add this to the staff, and bam! It can turn into any other one-handed weapon. I thought, “Why not?” So, I did just that. My staff could now morph into, say, a sword or a mace. Pretty cool for a thief or a wizard, you know?
But here’s the kicker. I tried using two staves at once, thinking I could double up on the bonuses. I had my Staff of Divination for spells and another one, a Staff of Healing, for some passive healing buffs. I was like a walking magic show, juggling these things around. It worked, surprisingly! I was getting benefits from both staves at the same time.
Then, I got this crazy idea. What if I combined the Shifting Rune with a Staff of Divination to get something that could also do a “True Strike”? So, I made this “Shifting Staff of Divination.” It was basically a True Strike on a stick, and get this, it could turn into a rapier. A rapier! I was thinking about all those critical hits I could land, turning into a crit-fishing machine.
- Experimenting with combinations: I started playing around with other items, like the Boots and Cloak of Elvenkind. These items are amazing together, boosting all sorts of skills, especially for a rogue. I felt like a ninja, all stealthy and stuff.
I also checked out some other staves. The Staff of the Unblinking Eye, which is another divination staff, is a solid pick. And the Staff of Phantasms, that’s an illusion one, is great for messing with people’s heads, creating all sorts of illusions.
This one time, I made a staff from willow. It had this forked tip, all carefully selected and stuff. It was a Staff of Divination too, and it let me use spells like “detect secret doors.” Crafting it was a whole process, needing specific feats and spells, but totally worth it.

Someone told me about using a Shifting Rune on a Staff of Divination for spamming True Strike. I was already doing something similar, but this was next level. I added some enhancements to make it even stronger, turning it into a real powerhouse.
So, that’s my story with the Shifting Staff of Divination. It’s been a journey of experimenting, combining, and a bit of crafting. This staff is like the Swiss Army knife of the magic world, and I’ve had a blast figuring out all the cool things it can do.
