I’ve been tinkering with the Thor Gemini for a while now, and boy, has it been a ride. So I figured, why not share my journey, bumps and all? I’ve logged some serious miles on this thing, and let me tell you, it’s been one heck of an adventure.
When I first got my hands on the Gemini, I was over the moon. This motorhome promised a sweet mix of getting around easy and living comfy, and I was all in. But, as with all things, it wasn’t long before I hit a few snags. Nothing’s perfect, right?
Battery Blues
First off, the battery. Man, oh man, did it give me a headache. I’d be cruising along, thinking everything’s peachy, and bam! The battery would die on me. It was like playing Russian roulette with my power supply. I spent a good chunk of time scratching my head, trying to figure out what was sucking the life out of it.
- Checked for loose connections – found a couple, tightened them up.
- Tested the alternator – seemed fine, but I’m no mechanic.
- Replaced the battery – twice, because why not?
Turned out, it was a mix of me not knowing how to manage the power right and some sneaky devices draining the battery when I wasn’t looking. Lesson learned: keep an eye on those power levels, folks.
Power Outlet Problems
Then there were the power outlets. Or should I say, the lack thereof? It felt like every time I needed to plug something in, there wasn’t an outlet in sight. And when I did find one, it was like, “Surprise! I don’t work.” I ended up with more extension cords than I care to admit, just trying to get power where I needed it.
- Traced the wiring – what a mess!
- Replaced a few outlets – felt like a real electrician.
- Installed a couple more – because you can never have too many, right?
After a lot of trial and error, and maybe a few sparks, I got most of them working. Still not sure what was up with the original setup, but hey, it’s all part of the adventure, I guess.

The Rattle and Roll
And don’t even get me started on the noise. Every little bump in the road, and it sounded like the whole thing was going to fall apart. Drawers rattling, skylights banging – it was a symphony of chaos. I spent days, literally days, chasing down those noises.
- Tightened every screw I could find – and then some.
- Added some padding here and there – felt like I was insulating a spaceship.
- Re-adjusted the skylights – more times than I can count.
It got better, sure, but it’s still not what you’d call quiet. But, you know, it adds character, right? Or at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m trying to sleep through the clatter.
So, yeah, the Thor Gemini and I have had our ups and downs. It’s been frustrating, sure, but also kind of fun in a weird way. I’ve learned a lot about RVs, about fixing things, and about patience. Would I do it all again? Probably. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the destination, it’s about the journey, rattles and all.
Through all the tinkering and fixing, I’ve come to appreciate this beast, warts and all. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And every time I hit the road, it’s a new adventure. So, here’s to more miles, more memories, and maybe a few more repairs along the way. Cheers!
