Okay, so I wanted to figure out the price of aluminum per pound in the USA today. I mean, who doesn’t want to know these things, right? It all started when I found some old aluminum cans in my garage. I thought, “Hey, maybe I can make a few bucks from these!”
First, I hit up Google. Just typed in “aluminum price per pound USA” and boom, tons of stuff came up. Some sites were talking about the stock exchange, which, honestly, I don’t get much. But it seems aluminum is traded on the stock exchange. Interesting, but not what I was looking for.
Then, I stumbled upon a site with live charts and a spot price. They had all sorts of metals listed, not just aluminum. I saw things like cobalt and copper, even gallium! Felt like I was in a science class. But they did have the aluminum price, pulled from markets in New York and London. Still, it was a bit too technical for me.
- Checked Google for aluminum prices.
- Found sites talking about the stock exchange.
- Saw a site with live charts and prices from New York and London.
I kept digging. Found another site that seemed more news-focused. They had articles and stuff about aluminum prices. It was okay, but still not exactly what I wanted. I just wanted a simple number, you know?
Next, I found this place called RIM, I think it is a company. They give out daily market info on metal prices, including aluminum. They even had a historical price graph, which was kinda cool. I could see how the price went up and down over time. But again, a bit too much for my simple question.
Then I hit a site that specifically talked about scrap metal. They mentioned that aluminum prices are around 0.35 cents per pound. This was more like it! But they also said something about the price in 1990. Honestly, that’s ancient history to me. I just care about today’s price.

- Read news-focused articles about aluminum prices.
- Found a company called RIM with daily market info and graphs.
- Landed on a scrap metal site mentioning 0.35 cents per pound.
Another site I looked at had this form where you could generate charts. You picked a metal and a unit, and it showed you prices for different dates. It was kind of neat, but I didn’t need all that. I just wanted the current price.
I also saw this table comparing aluminum prices per kilogram and per pound. They used some price per US ton as a base. It was helpful to see the conversion, but still, I just wanted that simple price per pound.
There was this other place that had aluminum futures quotes. I guess that’s for people who trade metals or something. They had a separate page for historical prices, which I didn’t really need.
So, after all this searching, I found that the aluminum price today is around 2,496.00, and I saw a specific number 2,514.50 somewhere else. But for scrap aluminum, it’s closer to 0.35 cents per pound. It’s a bit confusing with all these different numbers, but at least I have a general idea now. I guess selling those cans might not make me rich, but hey, every little bit helps, right?
Anyway, that’s my little adventure in finding out the price of aluminum. Hope you found it interesting, or at least not too boring!
