Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something called “Sagittarius Ponderosa”. Honestly, I’d never heard of it before, but it sounded kinda cool, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First things first, I hit up Google to see what this thing even was. Turns out, it’s some kind of pine tree? I’m no tree expert, but it looked pretty majestic in the pictures. I found this one picture of a massive Ponderosa pine with these crazy long needles, and I was like, “Okay, I gotta see this in person.”
So, I started digging around to figure out where I could actually find one of these trees. I learned that they’re mostly out west, which is a bummer because I’m on the east coast. But, I wasn’t giving up that easily. I kept searching and found out there’s this botanical garden a few hours away that has a whole bunch of different tree species, including, you guessed it, the Sagittarius Ponderosa.
I hopped in my car and drove over there. The place was huge! I grabbed a map and started wandering around. I saw all sorts of cool plants and trees, but I was on a mission. Finally, after walking around for like an hour, I spotted it. This giant Ponderosa pine standing tall in the middle of the garden. It was even bigger than I imagined!
I walked up to it and just stood there for a while, looking up at it. The bark was this really cool reddish-brown color, and the needles were super long, just like in the picture. I even touched one of the needles—it was kinda prickly, but not too bad.
- I took a bunch of pictures.
- I sat down under the tree and just soaked it all in.
- I felt pretty peaceful.
It’s crazy how something as simple as a tree can make you feel that way.

After a while, I decided to head back home. I left the garden feeling refreshed and kinda inspired. It was a good day. I learned something new, saw something cool, and got a little bit of nature time in. Can’t ask for much more than that.
