Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try my hand at digital painting for a while now, and I finally dove in with a “Sagittarius Painting” project. I’m no artist, mind you, but I figured, why not? Gotta start somewhere, right?
Getting Started
First, I gathered some references. I mean, a LOT of references. I googled Sagittarius images, constellation charts, mythical centaurs – you name it. My browser history is probably a weird mix of astrology and art now.
Then, I opened up my trusty painting software. I’m using a free one, nothing fancy. Just something to get my feet wet, ya know?
The Messy Middle
I started by sketching out a basic outline. Let me tell you, drawing a centaur is HARD. The horse part, the human part… getting the proportions right was a struggle. I erased and redrew so many times, I lost count.
Next up, I started to apply colors, and I started to get exited. I chose some deep blues and purples for the background, to kind of give it that “night sky” vibe. Then, I used some brighter colors, like golds and yellows, for the Sagittarius figure itself.
- Layering:I kept adding the colors.
- Blending:Mixing the colors to look smooth.
- Details:Little things like stars in the background.
I spent hours just messing around with different brushes and effects. I even tried adding some glittery effects to the arrow, because, why not? Sagittarius is all about that fiery energy, right?

The Final Result
Honestly, it’s not perfect. The anatomy is probably a bit wonky, and the colors might be a little too… enthusiastic. But you know what? I made it! I actually finished a digital painting. And I’m kinda proud of it, flaws and all.
It’s definitely a learning experience. I realized how much patience digital painting takes, and how much I still have to learn. But hey, it was fun! And I’m already thinking about my next project. Maybe a Capricorn one? We’ll see!
