Okay, so today I decided to tackle a recipe that called for “media libra de carne molida.” Now, I’m no expert in Spanish, but I figured out that means half a pound of ground beef. It sounded simple enough, right?
First, I grabbed my phone and search quickly what it means, make sure I get it * I went to the grocery store. I spent what felt like forever just staring at the meat section. So many choices! I finally picked out a package of lean ground beef – gotta watch those calories, you know?
Back home, I laid out all my ingredients. Besides the beef, I had some onions, garlic, a can of diced tomatoes, and some spices. I’m a big fan of cumin and chili powder, so those were definitely going in.
The Cooking Process
- First, I chopped up the onion and garlic. My knife skills aren’t the best, but hey, it gets the job done.
- Then, I heated up some olive oil in a pan. Once it was hot, I tossed in the onions and garlic and cooked them until they were soft and smelled amazing.
- Next, I added the ground beef to the pan and browned it, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooked.
- Once the beef was cooked through, I drained off any excess fat.
- Then came the fun part – adding the tomatoes and spices! I stirred everything together and let it simmer for a bit, so the flavors could all meld together.
While it was simmering, I cooked some rice to go with it. I’m all about those simple, hearty meals.
Finally, it was time to eat! I scooped some of the beef mixture over the rice and dug in. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! Not too spicy, but with a nice kick. And the best part? It was super easy to make.
It is so good! I will do it next time for my family!
