Alright, let’s gab about this here aquarius necklace thing. You know, the kind them young folks are always wearin’ around their necks.
I seen some shiny ones, some not-so-shiny ones. Some got little dangly things, others just a plain ol’ somethin’ with a picture on it. They call it “zodiac,” I think. Sounds fancy, but I ain’t got no clue what it means. Heard tell it’s got somethin’ to do with when you was born. Like, if you popped out in January or February, you’re supposed to be an “Aquarius.” Don’t ask me why, I just heard it from the telly.
Now, these necklaces…they come in all sorts of stuff. Some are made of that yellow metal, the one they call “gold.” Fancy, I tell ya, real fancy. Costs a pretty penny, too. Then there’s the silvery kind. Not as flashy, but still pretty. They say it’s lucky for some folks, specially if their “Venus” is good. Whatever that means. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but hey, if it makes ’em happy.
- Gold necklaces: Shiny and expensive, for folks who like to show off.
- Silver necklaces: More plain, but some say they bring good luck.
- Necklaces with stones: Some got little blue stones, they call ‘em “aquamarine” or somethin’. Pretty, but I bet they fall off easy. Then there’s that purple one, “amethyst,” they say it helps with your “relationships.” Young folks and their problems, I tell ya.
I seen some ads in the paper, talkin’ about these necklaces. They say they’re “water resistant,” which I guess means you can wear ’em in the shower. Though why you’d wear a necklace in the shower is beyond me. Cleanliness is next to godliness, but you don’t need no fancy necklace for that.
They got all kinds of prices too. Some are cheap as dirt, others cost more than my old mule Bessie! You can find ’em online, at the stores, heck, probably even at the flea market if you look hard enough. They got ones for men and women, though mostly I see the young gals wearin’ ’em.

I saw one place sellin’ necklaces shaped like little stars all put together. They said it’s a “constellation,” looks like a bunch of dots connected by lines to me. Guess it’s supposed to be the Aquarius picture in the sky. The things they come up with…
Some folks say wearin’ this necklace helps them feel calm and peaceful. Says it helps their brain from thinkin’ too much. I say, a good cup of chamomile tea and a nap does the same trick, but what do I know? They also say it helps with their “emotional balance.” Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. Back in my day, if you were sad, you cried. If you were happy, you laughed. No need for no fancy necklace to tell you how to feel.
And get this, they even got necklaces with just a little charm, a tiny little piece you hang on a chain. They call it a “pendant.” Some are just plain metal, others got those stones I was talkin’ about. They say you can get it “personalized,” meaning they’ll put your name or somethin’ on it. Waste of money if you ask me, but folks seem to like it.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a gift for one of them young’uns born in the winter, or if you just want a shiny thing to hang around your neck, I guess an aquarius necklace ain’t a bad choice. Just don’t ask me to explain it, ’cause I still don’t get it. But hey, if it makes ’em happy, it makes ’em happy. To each their own, I always say.
Just remember, it’s just a piece of metal or stone. It ain’t gonna change your life or nothin’. But if it makes you feel good, then go ahead and wear it. Just don’t go spendin’ all your hard-earned money on it. There’s more important things in life than a shiny trinket, like a good roof over your head and food on the table.
And that’s all I gotta say about that there aquarius necklace. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
