So, I came across this guitar, the B.C. Rich Virgo, and I just had to get my hands on it. I’ve always been a fan of unique-looking guitars, and the Virgo’s sharp, pointy body immediately caught my eye. I found a used one online in decent condition, and the price was right, so I pulled the trigger.
Getting Started
When it arrived, the first thing I did was give it a thorough inspection. There were a few minor cosmetic dings, nothing major, but the neck looked straight, and the frets seemed to be in good shape. I plugged it into my amp, and even with the old strings, it sounded pretty mean!
The Setup
- Cleaned it up: I took off the old strings and gave the fretboard a good cleaning with some lemon oil. It was pretty grimy, but it cleaned up nicely.
- New strings: I put on a fresh set of strings. I usually use Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys, so that’s what I went with.
- Action and Intonation:Next I adjusted the action. And then get the intonation set. It’s not hard just time-consuming.
- Checked the electronics, all good.
Playing Experience
After all, It just plays so smoothly. The neck is super comfortable, and the pickups are surprisingly versatile.
I can get a really heavy, distorted tone for metal, but I can also dial it back for some cleaner, bluesy stuff.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m super happy with my B.C. Rich Virgo. It’s a really cool-looking and great-sounding guitar, and it’s definitely a keeper. If you’re looking for something a little different, I’d definitely recommend checking one out. It might surprise you!
