Okay, so, I was messing around with this thing called “Capricorn Anderson”, right? It all started when I stumbled upon this novel, “Schooled” by Gordon Korman. This book introduced me to this kid, Capricorn Anderson, who’s been homeschooled his whole life by his hippie grandma, Rain. They live on this commune, Garland Farm, just the two of them.
So, I got curious about this Cap character. Here’s a kid who’s lived his entire life on a farm, away from, like, regular society. No TV, no internet, no nothing. And then, bam! His grandma falls out of a tree, breaks her hip, and has to go to the hospital. Suddenly, Cap’s world gets turned upside down.
He gets sent to live with a social worker and her daughter and starts going to public school. Can you imagine? This kid, who’s only ever known the peace and quiet of a farm, is now thrown into the chaos of a middle school. It’s a total culture shock.
I started to read the book and follow Cap’s journey. He’s this innocent, naive kid who doesn’t understand the social norms of school. He doesn’t get sarcasm, he doesn’t know about popular music, and he definitely doesn’t understand the concept of a “mean girl.” And let me tell you, middle school is full of them.
But here’s the thing – Cap’s not your average kid. He’s got this inner peace and wisdom that comes from his upbringing. He’s not swayed by peer pressure, and he doesn’t care about fitting in. He just wants to be himself and live his life according to his own values.
And you know what? It’s actually pretty inspiring. Cap’s story made me think about the importance of staying true to yourself, even when you’re different. It’s about finding your own path and not letting others dictate who you should be.

Through his experience, I saw Cap start to adapt to his new environment. He makes some friends, he experiences new things, and he even learns to appreciate some aspects of modern life. But he never loses sight of who he is or where he came from.
By the end of it all, Cap is changed, but he is still true to his hippie roots. He’s learned to navigate the complexities of the outside world without sacrificing his core values. It was quite a journey, and I really enjoyed following along.
I must say, exploring the world of Capricorn Anderson was a real eye-opener. It’s a story that stays with you, and it makes you think about things in a different way. And honestly, I think we could all learn a thing or two from Cap.
