Okay, so I saw this constellation blanket thing trending, and I just had to try making one myself. I mean, who wouldn’t want to snuggle up under the stars, even if they’re just yarn stars? So, I geared up, and began my little DIY project.
Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my hands on some materials. I:
- Chose a super soft, chunky navy blue yarn for the background – gotta have that night sky vibe, you know?
- Grabbed some glow-in-the-dark yarn for the constellations. I figured that would be way cooler than just plain white.
- Made Sure I have the right size crochet hook.
- Printed a simple constellation chart. I’m no astronomer, so I definitely needed a guide.
- Looked for some scissors and a yarn needle, for finishing things off, I prepared them just in case.
The Crocheting Begins!
With everything ready, I started crocheting the main blanket. I went with a simple double crochet stitch because, let’s be real, I’m not exactly a pro. I just wanted something cozy and straightforward. I kept going and going, row after row, until I had a decent-sized rectangle. Honestly, this part took the longest, and my hands definitely got a little tired.
Adding the Stars
Once the base was done, it was time for the fun part – the constellations! I used my chart and carefully stitched the glow-in-the-dark yarn onto the blanket, following the patterns. It was a bit fiddly, and I definitely messed up a few times (thank goodness for frogging!), but slowly but surely, the stars started to appear. I focused on a few of the major constellations, like the Big Dipper and Orion, because, again, I’m keeping it simple.
The Finishing Touches
After all the constellations were on, I wove in all the loose ends with the yarn needle, and then i am done!It will take about few evenings,But it’s all done.
My glowing blanket!
Finally!I turn off the lights, and boom! My blanket glowed! It wasn’t super bright, but it was definitely noticeable, and it looked so cool. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, even if it’s not * is not perfect, but it is really * I have a blanket I made by my self,I can sleep in it when it turns dark!
