Okay, so I’ve been seeing these constellation earrings everywhere and I’m obsessed. But, like, they’re kinda pricey, right? So I thought, “I can totally make these myself!” Famous last words, maybe, but I was determined.
First, I gathered my supplies. This involved a trip to the craft store, which is always dangerous for my wallet. I picked up:
- Flat back earring posts (the kind that don’t poke you in the head!)
- Tiny little rhinestones – I went with a mix of clear and iridescent ones for extra sparkle.
- Some strong adhesive. I grabbed the jewelry-specific kind, just to be safe.
- Tweezers. Because these rhinestones are tiny.
- A toothpick. For, you know, precise glue application.
- Paper,Pencil for drawing.
Then came the fun part: figuring out the constellations! I’m a Leo, so, obviously, I had to make a Leo pair. I googled an image, and printed out a tiny version to use as a guide. You could totally freehand this, but I’m not that artistically gifted. I also quickly draw a Leo on a piece of paper by pencil.
Next, I laid out my earring posts and started arranging the rhinestones on them, following my printed guide. This was fiddly, to say the least. Those tweezers were my best friend. I used the toothpick to apply a tiny dot of glue to the back of each rhinestone before sticking it on. The key is to use a small amount of glue – you don’t want it oozing out everywhere.
Honestly, the hardest part was being patient. I wanted to rush and just get them done, but I forced myself to take my time and make sure each rhinestone was securely in place. After finishing all rhinestones, I let them dry completely. I left them overnight, just to be extra sure.
And… that’s it! They turned out so cute! They’re not perfect, of course, but I love that I made them myself. And they definitely have that sparkly, celestial vibe I was going for. Plus, I saved a bunch of money, which is always a win. Now I’m thinking about making a pair for all my friends, with their zodiac signs. Wish me luck!
