Oh, honey, let me tell you about these American constellations. You know, those stars up in the sky, all bunched up together like chickens in a coop. They’re somethin’ else, I tell ya.
Stars up high, shining so bright
Now, I ain’t no fancy scientist, but I do know a thing or two about lookin’ up at the night sky. Back in my day, we didn’t have all them fancy city lights. No sir! We had the stars, bright as can be. And these American constellations, they’re like pictures in the sky.
Someone told me about some sky map thing, makes it easy to see them. Imagine that, just use a thing to see the constellations. Back in my days, we just used our eyes, no fancy stuff.
ACL American Constellation, some fancy boat
Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout a boat, this ACL American Constellation. They say it goes around for 7 days. Must be a big fancy boat, cruisin’ around. Not like the old rowboat we used to have down by the creek. That thing saw some things, I tell ya!
They say this boat, this American Constellation, is some kind of museum now. In Baltimore, they say. They call it a “Historic Landmark.” Well, ain’t that somethin’? A boat being historic. Makes me think of my old grandma’s quilts. They were pretty historic, too, kept us warm in the winter.
- That boat, it’s in Baltimore now, they say.
- They made it a museum. Can you believe that?
- It’s a “National Historic Landmark”. Fancy words for an old boat, I reckon.
See the stars in the sky
Some of them stars, you can barely see ’em. Like tryin’ to find a needle in a haystack, I swear. They say there’s 36 of them constellations with no bright stars. Like tryin’ to spot a firefly on a cloudy night. Tough, I tell ya, tough!

Folks used to tell stories about them constellations. All sorts of stories. About gods and heroes and animals. Like a big picture book in the sky. We didn’t have no TV back then, so the stars were our entertainment.
They have names, you know. The stars, I mean. Funny names, some of ’em. Hard to remember. But they’re up there, each one with its own little story.
Finding your way with the stars
The moon, she goes through her phases. Sometimes she’s big and round, sometimes she’s just a sliver. Like a cookie someone took a bite out of. They say it has different distance from earth, sometimes close, sometimes far. Same with the planets, swinging around like they are dancing.
They got some fancy map thing now, they call it “Interactive Night Sky Map”. Shows you where all them stars are. It’s like magic, I swear. It’s in Cedar Rapids, wherever that is. Back in my day, we just looked up and used our own eyes. No fancy maps needed.
This map thing even makes the moon and planets bigger. So you can see ’em better. They say it is for clarity, must be for old folks like me whose eyes ain’t what they used to be.
American Constellation, stars and boat, all mixed up
So, this American Constellation, it’s a bunch of things, ain’t it? It’s the stars up in the sky, it’s that fancy boat, it’s all mixed up together. Like a big pot of stew with everything thrown in.
People like to look at the stars. They like to ride on that boat. They like to learn about the history of it all. It’s a good thing, I reckon. Keeps people busy. Keeps their minds workin’.
- Stars are pretty to look at.
- That boat sounds like a fun trip.
- It’s good to learn about old things.
- People used to tell stories about the stars.
They say they can take care of special needs on that American Constellation boat. That’s good. Everyone should be able to enjoy a boat ride, no matter what.

Stars still shine, boat still there
Well, I reckon that’s about all I know about this American Constellation business. The stars are still up there, shining bright. That boat is still in Baltimore, being all historic. And folks are still lookin’ up at the sky, wonderin’ about it all. Just like they always have, and just like they always will.
It is something, ain’t it? All them stars, all them stories, all mixed up together. Just like life, I suppose. A little bit of everything, all jumbled up. But it’s beautiful, in its own way.
