Hey everyone, I’ve got a story for you all today, and it’s about something I tried out recently – divination using playing cards. Yeah, you heard that right, just your regular old deck of cards. I’ve always been kinda curious about fortune-telling, but I never really got around to buying a Tarot deck. So, the other day, I stumbled upon this thing called “cartomancy” and thought, why not give it a shot?
First off, I had to figure out what the heck cartomancy even was. Turns out, it’s just a fancy word for telling fortunes with playing cards. Apparently, people have been doing this since playing cards were brought to Europe way back in the 14th century. Who knew, right? I dug around a bit online and found out that each card has its own meaning, just like Tarot cards. It’s not as complicated as Tarot, but there’s still a system to it.
So, I grabbed my trusty deck of cards – the ones I usually use for poker nights – and started looking up what each card meant. It was actually kinda fun, like learning a secret code. For example, hearts are all about love and emotions, while diamonds are more about money and career stuff. Spades are the tricky ones, usually indicating challenges or obstacles, and clubs are linked to growth and success. Each number also means something, and the face cards have their own unique interpretations too.
- Hearts: Love, emotions, relationships.
- Diamonds: Money, career, material possessions.
- Spades: Challenges, obstacles, difficult times.
- Clubs: Growth, success, projects.
Once I had a basic understanding of the card meanings, I decided to try a simple three-card spread. This is a pretty common way to do a reading, where you ask a question, shuffle the deck, and then draw three cards. Each card represents a different aspect of the answer, like the past, present, and future, or the situation, the obstacle, and the advice.
I thought long and hard about a question that had been on my mind lately. It was about a project I was working on. I shuffled the cards while focusing on my question, then laid them out face down in a row. I took a deep breath and flipped them over one by one, trying to interpret their meanings based on what I had learned.
My Card Reading
It was a bit tricky at first, trying to piece together the message of the cards. But as I thought about it more, it started to make sense. The first card, a heart, seemed to represent the passion I had for the project. The second card, a spade, indicated the challenges I was facing. And the third card, a club, suggested that success was within reach if I kept working hard. I was pretty amazed that the playing cards could give the result of divination.

Now, I’m not saying I’m suddenly a fortune-telling expert or anything. But this little experiment definitely piqued my interest in cartomancy. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon, and it actually gave me some food for thought about my project. I might even try it again sometime, maybe with a more complex spread. Who knows, maybe there’s something to this whole card-reading thing after all! It is a cool thing that to use a playing cards to do divination, maybe I will try more different spreads next time.
