Okay, here is my sharing about my “divination deck” experience:
So, I’ve been messing around with this whole divination thing lately. It all started when I stumbled upon some old tarot cards at a garage sale. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, who doesn’t want to try and peek into the future, right?
I grabbed a few different decks. Some were those fancy, traditional tarot cards with all the kings and queens and weird symbols. And then I found these things called “oracle decks,” which are kind of like tarot’s wilder cousin. They had all sorts of themes, like animals, or nature, or even just random inspirational quotes. They were way less structured than the tarot cards.
First, I tried to understand what each card meant. I read that tarot cards have been used since the 15th century, first for playing games, and then in the mid-18th century, they started being used for fortune-telling. This whole process is called cartomancy. There are different types of tarot decks like gaming decks and divination decks. I decided to go with a divination deck that has 78 cards and follows the Rider-Waite-Smith system.
I started with the tarot cards. Man, those things are complicated! Each card has a ton of meanings, and it all depends on where it is in the spread and what other cards are around it. I spent hours just trying to memorize the basics. I used these cards to do a simple three-card spread where I asked about my day. The cards, surprisingly, seemed to align with what happened.
Then I moved on to the oracle cards. Those were a bit easier to handle, at least for me. They’re more about intuition and just going with your gut feeling about what the card means to you in that moment. I did a few readings with those, just for fun. I pulled a card each morning to see what the day might hold. It was a neat little exercise to get my brain going. It was a bit more free-flowing, and I didn’t feel as tied down to specific meanings. I enjoyed working with the oracle deck more.

Honestly, the whole experience has been pretty interesting. I’m not sure I believe in the whole fortune-telling aspect, but it’s been a fun way to explore my own thoughts and feelings. I’d recommend giving it a shot, just to see what it’s all about. You never know what you might discover about yourself.
Here are some of the things I did:
- Bought a few different decks: traditional tarot and some oracle decks.
- Tried to learn the meanings of the tarot cards (that was tough!).
- Did some simple readings with both tarot and oracle cards.
- Compared the two types of decks. I think that tarot is more for divination, and the oracle deck is more for self-reflection.
- Reflected on the experience and how it made me feel.
All in all, it was a pretty cool experiment. I probably won’t become a professional fortune-teller anytime soon, but it’s definitely given me a new way to look at things.
