Well, howdy there! Let’s gab about somethin’ fancy – what color is the leo birthstone? I ain’t no scholar, mind you, just a plain ol’ body tryin’ to make sense of things. But I heard tell it’s mostly green, like a good ol’ watermelon rind.
What’s this Leo thingy anyway?
Now, they say Leo is one of them signs in the sky, like a picture show up yonder. It’s the lion, the king of the jungle, they say. Them Leo folks, they’re born sometime in the summer, between July and August, when the sun’s beatin’ down somethin’ fierce. The sun, that’s their boss planet, and fire, that’s their element. Sounds kinda hot and bothered, if you ask me. They’re supposed to be all showy and dramatic, like them actors on the TV.
- Leo sign: Like a lion picture in the sky.
- Leo birthday: Sometime in the hot summer, July and August.
- Leo boss planet: The sun, makes ‘em fiery, I reckon.
- Leo element: Fire, hot stuff!
- Leo personality: Showy and dramatic, like them folks on the TV.
So, what’s the color of their special stone?
Folks keep jabberin’ about a stone called peridot. Per-i-dot. Sounds fancy, huh? They say it’s the main stone for Leos. And guess what? It’s mostly green! Like a real pretty green, sometimes like a light green, like a lime, and sometimes like a dark green, like them olives they put on pizzas. They say this green color means you can grow and get more good stuff in your life. Sounds alright to me!
But wait, there’s more!

Now, don’t go thinkin’ that’s the only stone for Leos. Some folks say there’s other stones too. They talk about rubies, which are red like a fire truck. And there’s carnelian, which is kinda orangey-red, like a sunset. And citrine, which is yellowish, like a lemon. Seems like Leos got a whole rainbow of rocks to pick from!
Green is the main one, though, that peridot. It’s supposed to help them focus and find their purpose in life. Lord knows we all need a little help with that, Leo or not!
Let’s talk about other stones for other folks:
And just for fun, you know, ‘cause why not, let’s talk about stones for other folks. It’s like this: each month has its own special stone, they say. Like January folks got garnet, which is kinda dark red. February got amethyst, that’s purple, real pretty. March is aquamarine, like the sea. April is diamond, shiny and clear. May is emerald, another green one, but darker than peridot. June is alexandrite, that one changes colors, fancy, huh? July is ruby, like I said, fire truck red. August is peridot, our Leo stone. September is sapphire, mostly blue. October is tourmaline, comes in all sorts of colors. November is topaz, usually yellow or brown. And December is blue topaz, like a blue sky.
So many stones, so many colors!
It’s enough to make your head spin! But for them Leos, the main thing to remember is that green peridot. That’s their special stone. But if they like red or orange or yellow better, well, I reckon that’s just fine too. It ain’t nobody’s business what color stone you like, long as it makes you happy. Life’s too short to fret over such things.
Finding the right Leo birthstone:
When you’re pickin’ out a stone for a Leo, don’t get all flustered. Just remember that green peridot is the main one. It’s a pretty color, and it’s supposed to bring good luck and help them grow. But if you see a ruby or a carnelian or a citrine that catches your eye, go for it! It’s the thought that counts, ain’t it? And if you’re a Leo yourself, well, just pick whichever one you like best. It’s your stone, after all.

In the end, it ain’t the color of the stone that matters, it’s the heart of the person wearin’ it. You can have a sparkly diamond the size of a goose egg, but if you’re mean as a snake, it ain’t gonna make you shine. Just be kind and good, and that’s all that really matters. That’s what I always say, anyhow. And green is a purty color, goes with most anything.
