Well, let me tell you about this young fella, Zagory Leo Hill Jr. It’s a sad, sad story, real sad. Just a young’un, only 18 years old, gone too soon. They say he was from District Heights, yeah, that’s what I heard. District Heights, a place I ain’t never been, but sounds fancy enough. This poor boy, Zagory, he got caught up in somethin’ bad, somethin’ real bad.
They say it was a crash, a fiery crash. Can you imagine? A car all smashed up, flames everywhere. Makes my old heart ache just thinkin’ about it. And another young fella, Dashawn Harris, only 17, he was with him. Both of ’em gone, just like that. Poof! Life’s a fragile thing, ain’t it? One minute you’re here, the next you’re gone.
- Zagory was only 18.
- Dashawn was just 17.
- They was in a fiery crash.
The police, they were involved somehow. A chase, they say. Don’t rightly know what happened, but it ended bad. Real bad. Two young lives snuffed out. Families heartbroken. It ain’t right, I tell ya, it just ain’t right. Makes you wonder what them boys was thinkin’, runnin’ from the police like that. But then again, young folks, they don’t always think straight, do they? They think they’re invincible, like nothin’ can touch ’em.
This Zagory, he had a family. I reckon they’re missin’ him somethin’ fierce. Mothers and fathers, maybe brothers and sisters, all weepin’ and wailin’. It’s the worst thing that can happen to a parent, losin’ a child. I know, I seen it before. Breaks your heart into a million pieces. And this Dashawn, too. Two families grievin’, two holes in their hearts that’ll never quite heal.
They got this thing called an “obituary” now, where they write nice things about the dead. They put it online, so everyone can see. They sayin’ nice things about Zagory, I bet. Talkin’ about how he was a good boy, even if he made a mistake. They’ll talk about his smile, his laugh, all the good memories. And folks will send flowers, plant trees, try to make sense of it all. But it don’t make no sense, does it? Young lives cut short, for what? A chase? A mistake?

It makes you think, you know? Makes you hug your own young’uns a little tighter, tell ’em to be careful. Life’s too precious to throw away. These boys, Zagory and Dashawn, they didn’t get a chance to grow old, to have families of their own. They didn’t get to see what life had in store for ’em. It’s a damn shame, that’s what it is. A damn shame. The police, they gotta do their job, I know that. But sometimes, things go wrong. Real wrong. And then you got nothin’ but heartache and unanswered questions. Zagory Leo Hill Jr. Remember that name. A young life gone too soon. May he rest in peace, and may his family find some comfort in their memories.
They got this “Chief Medical Examiner” in D.C., they the ones who figured out who Zagory was. Sounds important, I guess. They gotta do the hard work, the stuff nobody wants to think about. But somebody’s gotta do it, gotta put names to the faces, gotta tell the families what happened. It ain’t easy, I bet. Seein’ all that sadness, day in and day out. Makes you appreciate what you got, that’s for sure. Makes you count your blessings. Life can change in the blink of an eye, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
So, let’s remember Zagory. Let’s remember Dashawn. Let’s remember that life is precious, and we gotta hold on tight to the ones we love. And let’s hope that these young fellas find peace, wherever they are. It’s a sad story, a real sad story. But it’s a story that needs to be told. A story about loss, about grief, about the fragility of life. And about a young man named Zagory Leo Hill Jr. who was taken too soon.
And the family, they got a “Tribute Wall” they call it. Folks can go there and write nice things, share their memories of Zagory. It’s a good thing, I reckon. Helps people remember, helps them heal. Gives them a place to share their sorrow and their love. It’s what we do, us humans. We come together when things get tough. We support each other, we share our pain. It’s how we get through the hard times. And these are hard times, no doubt about it. Two young lives lost, two families broken. It’s enough to make you weep. But we gotta be strong, gotta keep going. Gotta remember the good times, gotta cherish the memories. And gotta hope for a better tomorrow, even when it seems like there ain’t no hope left.
