Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “capricorn artists” idea, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started out thinking, “Hey, I’ll just see which famous artists were born under the Capricorn sign.” You know, simple enough.
So, I grabbed my laptop and dove into the internet. I started with a basic search, just typing in “capricorn artists” to see what would pop up. Honestly, I was expecting some basic lists, maybe a few blog posts, nothing crazy.
But boy, was I wrong. This thing spiraled. First, I found a bunch of sites listing artists, but then I realized I needed to cross-reference their birth dates. Because, let’s be real, not every site gets it right. So then I was jumping between Wikipedia pages, artist bios, you name it. My browser was a mess of tabs, I tell ya.
After a while, I decided to make a spreadsheet, because that’s the only way to stay sane in these situations. I started logging names, birth dates, and even their main art styles, just to get a better picture. That’s when I started to notice something else. These Capricorns, they’re a determined bunch. Loads of them really ground it out to make it.
But then, of course, I hit another snag. Dates weren’t always consistent. Some sources would say one thing, others would say another. I swear, it felt like I was solving a mystery. I spent hours just verifying dates, digging through old records, sometimes even trying to find birth certificates online. It was wild.
Finally, after all that, I managed to compile a pretty solid list. And you know what? It was actually really interesting. Seeing all these different artists, all born under the same sign, but with such diverse styles and stories. It really got me thinking about astrology and how it might influence creativity. I ended up making notes about common traits and even wrote down some thoughts about my own art.

- Henri Matisse
- Paul Cezanne
- John Singer Sargent (Okay, his birthday is borderline, but some sites list him as a Capricorn)
I ended up going way deeper than I planned, but it was a fun, albeit chaotic, experience. The spreadsheet is still a work in progress but it’s something I’m excited to keep working on. And that’s my chaotic journey into the world of Capricorn artists.
