Okay, so today I decided to dive into this “free will astrology Virgo” thing. I’ve always been a bit skeptical, but hey, I’m a Virgo, and we’re supposed to be all about analysis and practicality, right? So, I figured, let’s put this to the test.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed my birth chart. If you don’t know the time of your birth, you can find all of the planets positions, but you can’t find the houses, so it’s pretty important to know, or find, that. I used some random website, put in my birth date, time, and place. Boom! There’s my chart, all circles and lines and symbols I don’t fully understand.
I then focused on Virgo. It’s my Sun sign, so that’s the biggie. The site I used gave a little blurb about Virgo traits – analytical, detail-oriented, practical, helpful, sometimes critical (okay, maybe often critical). Pretty standard stuff.
The “Free Will” Part
This is where it got interesting. The idea is that even though astrology points to certain tendencies, we still have free will. We’re not just puppets on cosmic strings. So, I looked at my Virgo tendencies and thought about how they play out in my life.
- Analytical: Yep, I definitely overthink things. Guilty.
- Detail-oriented: I can get lost in the weeds, for sure. Sometimes I miss the big picture because I’m so focused on tiny things.
- Practical: I like to have a plan. I’m not a huge fan of surprises.
- Helpful: I do like to help people, but sometimes I get taken advantage of.
- Critical: Oh yeah, I can be super critical, of myself and others. It’s something I’m working on.
My Experiment
I decided to challenge. I thought, “Okay, I’m a Virgo, I like order and routine. Today, I’m going to do something completely spontaneous.” I, on purpose, did a lot of things out of order that I normally do in a particular sequence.
I went to a coffee shop. I looked at the menu, thought, “Okay, my mind, I’m choosing you today”. I closed my eyes, thought really hard about the menu I just looked at, and picked the first thing that came to mind, even though I had no idea what it was, what it would taste like, etc.

It was…interesting. It felt weird, a little uncomfortable, but also kind of liberating. Like I was breaking free from my usual Virgo constraints.
The Takeaway
So, after my little experiment, what do I think about free will astrology for Virgos? I think it’s a mix. Astrology can highlight our tendencies, the things we naturally gravitate towards. But it doesn’t dictate our actions. We still have choices. We can choose to lean into our Virgo traits, or we can choose to push against them. It’s up to us.
Today, I chose to push against them, just a little. And it was…fun. Maybe I’ll try it again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll even try being spontaneous without closing my eyes and picking something at random.
