So, I wanted to figure out the price of copper per pound today. It’s something I’ve been keeping an eye on, just out of curiosity, you know?
First, I did a simple search online, you know, just to get a general idea. I found a bunch of different websites, each with slightly different numbers. It was a bit of a mess, really. One site mentioned something about COMEX, which sounded official, so I kept that in mind.
Then, I found a site that had a live interactive chart. I clicked around, trying to find the exact number for today. It was kind of cool to see how the price fluctuated, but it wasn’t super clear what the current price was.
Digging Deeper
I kept searching and found a site that mentioned the London Metal Exchange, or LME. It seemed like a big deal, so I figured their prices would be reliable. This site listed the price in both dollars and euros, which was kind of interesting.
I also stumbled upon a website that specialized in metal prices for cables. It seemed pretty accurate, so I made a mental note of that one too.
There was this other site, “Trade Service,” that claimed to have been around since 1931, providing quality product and pricing info. That’s a long time! So, I figured, maybe they know their stuff. But it wasn’t easy to find the exact number I was looking for on their site, to be honest.

Getting Closer
Then I found another site where you could just select the metal and unit to get the price. Finally, something simple! I chose copper and pounds, and it gave me a number. It also let me see the price history for different numbers of days, which was pretty neat.
I also read something about how the copper price got a boost because of some new stuff happening in China. Apparently, demand for copper had been weak there, but then they did something with bonds, and that might make the economy stronger, which in turn, it would make the demand for copper go up.
The Final Number
After looking at all these different sites and piecing things together, it seemed like the price of copper today was somewhere around $4.12 per pound. I saw some higher numbers, like way higher, like some site quoting $14,541 per tonne, which is nuts if you ask me, but $4.12 seemed to be the most common number. One of the sites, I think it was the LME one, talked about “Grade A copper cathode plates” which sounded fancy. I don’t really know what that means, but maybe it’s the good stuff.

So, yeah, that’s how I figured out the price of copper today. It took a bit of digging, but I got there in the end. It’s interesting how many different places you have to look to get a simple answer sometimes, right?
