Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “Colorado Constellation Pothos” plants all over Instagram and plant groups. They’re supposed to have these amazing speckled leaves, like a galaxy, you know? I finally decided I needed to get my hands on one and try to grow it myself. I’m no expert, but I do love my plants!
Finding the Plant
First step, obviously, was finding the darn thing. My local nurseries didn’t have any. It took a lot of time to find a good one. I found one on sale event!
Getting it Home and Prepped
I carefully brought the plant home. I picked out a nice terracotta pot that was just a bit bigger than the nursery pot. My goal is to repot my plant.
The Repotting Process
- Gentle Removal: First, I gently squeezed the sides of the plastic nursery pot to loosen the soil and the roots. I didn’t want to yank it out and damage anything.
- Root Check: I carefully pulled the pothos out and took a look at the * seemed ok.
- Fresh Soil: I put a layer of my potting mix in the bottom of the new terracotta pot.
- Placing the Plant: I centered the pothos in the new pot, making sure the top of the root ball was about an inch below the rim of the pot.
- Filling it In: Then, I filled in around the roots with more of the potting mix, gently patting it down to make sure the plant was secure. I didn’t pack it too tight, though – gotta let those roots breathe!
- Watering: I gave it a good watering, letting the water drain out of the bottom.
Ongoing Care (Fingers Crossed!)
I put my new Colorado Constellation Pothos in a spot that gets bright, indirect light. I think it will be perfect light for growing.
I’m still learning as I go, but that’s part of the fun, right? I wanted to record this experience so that I can remember the things I did right and what I can improve.
