Okay, so I’ve been seeing these constellation necklaces everywhere, and I finally decided to make my own. I wanted to do the Orion constellation because, well, it’s just cool, and it’s one of the few I can actually recognize in the night sky.
Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my stuff together. I’m a bit of a craft hoarder, so I already had some things, but I still needed a few specifics. Here’s the basic rundown of what I grabbed:
- Jewelry chain: I picked a delicate silver one.
- Jump rings: Tiny little rings to connect everything.
- Clasp: To, you know, actually wear the necklace.
- Small beads or charms: These are going to be the “stars”. I found some tiny silver beads.
- Pendant base: I needed a base to make orian shape,so I chose a round and black one.
- Jewelry pliers: Super important for opening and closing jump rings. I have a couple of different types, and they’re all useful.
- Wire cutters: Sometimes the chain is too long, so these come in handy.
- Some reference image of Orion: Gotta get the star placement right! I just used a picture on my phone.
- Glue: Use for stick the beads.
Putting It All Together
Honestly, the hardest part was figuring out how to arrange the beads to look like Orion.I printed out a picture of the constellation and laid my pendant base *, I tried placing my star on the right position with my hand.I marked that position with my pen.
After I marked all of the stars’ position,I began to stick them to the base with glue.I need to wait a while to make sure the glue totally dry.
Then,I connected everthing with the chain, jump rings, and *’s easy to put them together.
The Finished Product!
And that’s it! It actually turned out way better than I expected. It’s subtle, but still recognizable as Orion. I’ve been wearing it every day since I made it, and I’ve gotten a few compliments, which is always nice. It’s a fun little project, and it’s definitely cheaper than buying one of those fancy ones online!
