Okay, so I’ve been wanting to knit this “Pisces Sweater” I saw, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I finally decided to just go for it!
Getting Started
First things first, I needed the yarn. I picked out this gorgeous, chunky, deep blue yarn – it just screamed “ocean” to me. I also grabbed the biggest circular needles I could find, because, you know, chunky yarn needs chunky needles.
- Yarn: Super bulky, deep blue.
- Needles: US size 15 circular needles.
- Pattern: I kinda…free-styled it. More on that later!
The Knitting Process
I started by casting on, like, a million stitches. Okay, maybe not a million, but it felt like it! I knew I wanted a really oversized, comfy sweater, so I went for a wider-than-usual cast-on.
Then came the ribbing. I did a simple 2×2 rib (knit 2, purl 2) for the bottom edge. It took forever, seriously. I think I watched three movies just doing the ribbing.
After the ribbing, it was time for the main body. This is where I kinda winged it. I just started knitting in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) and kept going until it was long enough. I tried it on a few times to make sure it was the length I wanted.
Sleeves and Finishing
The sleeves were next. I picked up stitches around the armholes and knitted in the round. I decreased a few stitches every few rows to give them a slightly tapered shape. Again, lots of trying on to make sure they fit right.

Finally, I did another 2×2 rib for the cuffs and the neckline. I bound off all the stitches, weaved in the loose ends (the worst part!), and…boom! Sweater done!
It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. It’s super cozy, super warm, and I’m pretty proud of myself for actually finishing it. Plus, I have the only one.
I learned a lot during this project, I think next time, I will make less errors.
