Okay, so I’ve been wanting a Pisces tattoo for, like, forever. I’m a Pisces, obviously, and I really wanted something that represents me, but not just, like, the standard two fish symbol. I wanted a whole sleeve, something really intricate and beautiful. So I started this whole process, and let me tell you, it was a journey!
Finding the Right Artist
First, I spent ages just scrolling through Instagram. I mean, HOURS. Looking at different tattoo artists, different styles, trying to find someone who really got the vibe I was going for. I wanted something with a lot of detail, maybe some watercolor elements, definitely a mystical, dreamy feel. I finally found this artist, Sarah, whose work was just amazing. Her portfolio was full of these gorgeous, flowing designs, and I knew she was the one.
Brainstorming the Design
Next, I booked a consultation with Sarah. I brought in a bunch of reference images – pictures of real fish, pictures of constellations, some abstract art I liked. We talked for a long time about what I wanted, and she started sketching some ideas right there. It was so cool to see it come to life!
- I knew I wanted the two fish, but I also wanted to incorporate the Pisces constellation.
- I wanted it to have a watery, flowing feel, like the fish were swimming in the ocean.
- I kept emphasizing that ethereal, dreamy vibe.
We went back and forth a few times with the design. I’d send her more pictures, she’d tweak the sketch. It was a real collaboration, which I loved.
The Tattooing Process
Finally, it was time for the actual tattooing! Because it’s a sleeve, we broke it up into multiple sessions. The first session was just the outline, which took, like, five hours. It was intense! I won’t lie, it hurt in some spots, especially near the elbow and wrist. But Sarah was amazing, she kept checking in to make sure I was okay.
Over the next few months, I went back for several more sessions. We added the shading, the color, the details. It was so exciting to see it slowly come together. Each session was like unwrapping a present. I documented the entire process with photos and videos, because it will be cool to look back to the whole jounery.

The Finished Product!
And now, it’s finally done! I have this amazing, beautiful Pisces sleeve that I’m absolutely in love with. It’s everything I dreamed of and more. It’s a constant reminder of my sign, my personality, and this whole artistic journey I went on. It was a lot of time, money, and a little bit of pain, but totally worth it!
