So, I saw this cool “sagittarius mug” thing online and thought, “Hey, I could totally make that!” I’m a Sagittarius, so, you know, gotta represent. Plus, I love a good DIY project. It all started with a plain white mug I picked up from the dollar store. Score!
Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my stuff together. Here’s what I rounded up:
- Plain white ceramic mug (like I said, dollar store!)
- Pencil
- My trusty permanent markers (various colors, of course)
- Oven (for baking…the mug, not cookies, this time!)
- Some rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs(for cleaning)
The Creative Process (aka Messy Fun)
I started by giving the mug a good wipe-down with the rubbing alcohol. Gotta make sure that surface is squeaky clean for the markers. Then, I lightly sketched out the Sagittarius symbol – you know, the archer – with a pencil. I’m no artist, so I kept it pretty simple. Don’t judge!
Next, I went in with the permanent markers. I chose purple, it is my favorite color, and just started filling in the design. I added some stars and swirly things around the archer, just to make it a bit more, you know, me. It definitely wasn’t perfect, but hey, that’s part of the charm, right?
Baking Time!
Once I was (mostly) happy with my artwork, it was time to bake that bad boy. I preheated my oven to 350°F (175°C). Important: I put the mug in the COLD oven, then turned it on. This helps prevent the mug from cracking. Safety first!
I baked it for about 30 minutes, then turned off the oven and let the mug cool down completely inside. Again, patience is key to avoid any unfortunate shattering incidents.

The Final Result (and a Few Oopsies)
After the mug cooled down, I took it out and… well, it was pretty cool! A few of the marker lines smudged a bit during the baking process, but overall, I was pretty stoked. I’ve got my own custom-made Sagittarius mug! And the best part is, this is my own, unique mug!
I gave it a test run with some coffee, and it worked like a charm. I do reommend to wash it by hand in the future. Dishwasher is an enemy.
