Okay, so I decided to make a Sagittarius pendant necklace. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
First, I had to sketch out a design. I wanted something simple, yet elegant, you know? Not too fussy. I ended up with a fairly straightforward arrow shape, because, well, Sagittarius. I spent a good hour tweaking it, erasing, and redrawing before I was happy.
Next, I needed to choose my materials. I opted for sterling silver wire – I like how it looks, and it’s relatively easy to work with. I also picked up some small, faceted garnet beads. Garnet is the birthstone for January, and I thought the deep red would look great against the silver. Plus, I found these beautiful little beads at a craft fair, couldn’t resist them!
Then came the actual crafting part. I started by cutting lengths of wire. I measured carefully, trying not to waste any, because, you know, silver isn’t cheap! Then, using a pair of pliers, I began shaping the arrow. This took some patience, especially getting the arrowhead perfectly symmetrical. I’d bend it, adjust it, bend it again – it was a real back-and-forth process. My fingers got a little sore, honestly.
Once the arrow was to my liking, it was time for the beads. I strung them onto a separate piece of wire and attached that to the base of the arrow. It was tricky getting the beads evenly spaced, but I eventually managed it. I had to keep adjusting, checking the spacing, and adding a little more wire here and there.
After that, I looped the necklace’s top part. It seemed easy on paper, but boy, it wasn’t! Getting the loop perfectly round and secure took several attempts. I almost gave up a couple of times, but I persevered. Finally, I carefully attached the jump ring and clasp – simple, but it had to be secure.

Finally, I cleaned and polished the entire necklace with a polishing cloth. It made all the difference! The silver gleamed, and the garnets sparkled. I was really happy with the finished piece. It was far from perfect – there are a few tiny imperfections here and there – but it’s handmade, so that adds to its charm, right? It took a while, and it definitely tested my patience, but the sense of accomplishment seeing that necklace finished? Totally worth it. And now, I have a unique little Sagittarius necklace I can treasure.
