Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now. Something cool, you know? And since I’m a Sagittarius, born in December, I figured, why not get a Sagittarius-themed tattoo? It’s my sign, after all.
First, I started looking around to see what kind of Sagittarius tattoos are out there. I browsed through tons of pictures, just to get some ideas. Some people had these really detailed archers, some had just the simple symbol, which looks like an arrow. I even saw a few that were just the word “Sagittarius” written out in fancy fonts.
After looking at all those, I started leaning towards something with the archer. It’s a classic, you know? But I wanted mine to be a bit different. Maybe a bit more… fierce? So I started thinking about how I could make it unique. I thought maybe I could add some stars around it, since Sagittarius is a constellation. Or maybe some fire, since it’s a fire sign.
Then, I started doing some digging on what’s considered “lucky” for guys in tattoos. Found out that stuff like four-leaf clovers, horseshoes, dragons, and koi fish are supposed to bring good fortune. Maybe I could incorporate one of those into my design somehow? Still not sure about that one.
I kept sketching and doodling, trying to put my ideas down on paper. I’m no artist, but it helped to visualize what I wanted. I even made a few different versions, some with the archer facing left, some facing right. One had the archer aiming up, another had him aiming down. I guess I spent around a week, on and off in the evenings, just playing around with the designs.
My Choice
Finally, I decided on a design I really liked. It’s an archer, but kind of stylized, not super realistic. He’s aiming upwards, towards a cluster of stars. I liked the idea of him aiming high, reaching for something. It felt very… Sagittarius, you know?

Next step was finding a tattoo artist. I asked around, checked out some local shops, and looked at portfolios online. I found this one artist who did a lot of black and grey work, which is what I was looking for. His lines were clean, and his shading was amazing. I decided to book a consultation with him.
During the consultation, I showed him my design and explained what I wanted. He gave me some feedback, made a few suggestions, and we tweaked the design a bit together. I felt good about it, felt like he understood what I was going for. So I booked the appointment.
The day of the appointment, I was a bit nervous, not gonna lie. It was my first tattoo, and it was going to be pretty big, on my shoulder. But the artist was chill, the shop was clean, and everything looked professional. He prepped the area, applied the stencil, and then it was time for the needle. It stung a bit, especially on the bony parts, but it wasn’t unbearable. I just focused on my breathing and tried to relax. After an hour, it was done! I looked in the mirror, and man, it looked even better than I imagined! The archer was bold, the stars were delicate, and the whole thing just flowed really well with the shape of my shoulder.
- Design: Stylized archer aiming upwards towards a cluster of stars.
- Style: Black and grey.
- Placement: Right shoulder.
- Artist: Local artist specializing in black and grey tattoos.
I’m super happy with how it turned out. It’s a cool piece of art, and it represents my sign in a way that feels personal and meaningful to me. Now I just gotta take good care of it while it heals. No swimming or sun for a while, and gotta keep it moisturized. It’s a small price to pay for something that’s gonna be with me for the rest of my life. It was a good experience, and I might even get another one someday. Who knows?
