Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now. I’m a Sagittarius, born in December, and I really wanted something that represents my sign. I’ve always felt a strong connection to the whole archer, centaur, bow and arrow imagery. I started thinking, why not go big? Why not a whole sleeve dedicated to my Sagittarius spirit?
First, I spent hours scrolling through Pinterest. Seriously, hours. I searched for “Sagittarius sleeve tattoo,” “Sagittarius tattoo designs,” and even “archer tattoo sleeve.” I must have saved like a hundred pins. There were so many cool ideas – some with just the bow and arrow, some with the centaur, and others with constellations. It was overwhelming, but in a good way. I love doing this and it really helped me to get my head around to what I really want.
Then I started thinking about what I really wanted this tattoo to say about me. I mean, it’s going to be there forever, right? I know I’m an adventurous person, always up for trying new things and exploring new places. So, I decided I wanted the design to reflect that. I also wanted it to show my optimistic and philosophical side – you know, the whole “seeking truth and wisdom” vibe that Sagittarius is known for. And I wanted it to look really cool, obviously.
Next, I started looking for tattoo artists in my area. I read reviews, checked out their portfolios, and made a list of a few that I liked. I didn’t go with just one but scheduled consultations with three different artists, just to get a feel for their style and see if we clicked.
The first artist was okay, but their style was a bit too realistic for me. The second one was super talented, but they didn’t seem to get my vision. But the third artist, Sarah, she was amazing. She listened to all my ideas, looked at my Pinterest board, and then sketched out a few designs right there in the shop.
We talked about incorporating the bow and arrow, maybe a starry background to represent the Sagittarius constellation, and possibly even a quote about adventure or wisdom. She suggested adding some watercolor elements to give it a more fluid and dynamic look, which I loved. Finally, I decided to cooperate with her for my tattoo sleeve.

After a few more meetings to finalize the design, we finally booked the first session. It was a long one, about six hours, but it was worth it. We started with the outline of the bow and arrow, which wrapped around my upper arm. Sarah’s line work was incredible, so precise and detailed.
Over the next few months, I went back for several more sessions. We added the starry background, the quote (“Not all who wander are lost,” which I thought fit perfectly), and all the shading and color. Each session was like a little adventure in itself, watching the tattoo come to life piece by piece. The watercolor effect that she added was simply great, it really made all the difference in the world and I loved it.
Finally, after about 20 hours of work in total, it was finished. My Sagittarius tattoo sleeve. And I absolutely love it. It’s everything I hoped for and more. It’s a beautiful piece of art that tells my story, represents my personality, and reminds me to always stay true to my adventurous spirit. Now I own a true masterpiece on my arm.
- Lesson learned: Don’t rush the process.
- Tip: Find an artist you trust and whose style you love.
- Most important: Make sure it means something to you!
So yeah, that’s the story of my Sagittarius tattoo sleeve. It was a long journey, but totally worth it. Now, excuse me while I go admire my arm again… haha, just kidding (kind of).
