Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… capricorn necklace thing. I ain’t no fancy city folk, so I’ll tell ya straight. My grandkid, she’s all into these horoscopes and whatnot. Born in January, they say she’s a Capricorn. Sounds like some kinda fancy goat to me, but hey, whatever makes her happy, right?
So, she wants this capricorn necklace. Says it’s gotta have that goat thing on it. A goat? I seen plenty of goats in my day, ain’t nothin’ special about ’em. But she says it’s more than just a goat, it’s somethin’ about… uh… determination, yeah, that’s it. And bein’ grounded. Like, keepin’ your feet on the ground, I guess. She says them Capricorns, they’re stubborn as mules, always gotta get what they want. Reminds me of her pa, stubborn fella he was.
Now, these necklaces, they come in all sorts. Some shiny, some not so much. They got these rocks on ‘em too. Garnet, they call it. And blue sapphire, sounds mighty fancy. And onyx, that’s a black one, like the coal we used to burn in the stove. My grandkid, she likes the shiny ones, of course. Says them rocks help her stay focused. Focused on what? I ain’t got a clue. Kids these days, always focused on somethin’ I can’t understand.
- Shiny Rocks: They put all kinds of shiny rocks on these necklaces. Garnet, blue sapphire, onyx… sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. But the shiny rocks is for people born from December 22 to January 19.
- Goat Power: That there goat symbol, it means somethin’ about bein’ strong and climbin’ high. Like a goat climbin’ a mountain, I guess. She says it helps her reach her goals. I told her, hard work helps you reach your goals, not some goat on a necklace.
- Words and Letters: Some necklaces, they got words on ’em. “Capricorn” it says, all fancy-like. Sometimes in gold, sometimes in silver. My grandkid, she wants one with rose gold, whatever that is. Sounds expensive.
I went to the store, lookin’ for this necklace. Man, they got a whole bunch of ‘em. Some cheap, some so expensive it’d make your eyes water. They got these little charms too, for makin’ your own jewelry. I ain’t got time for that, though. I just want somethin’ simple, somethin’ that’ll make my grandkid happy. The sales girl told me one necklace that has white gold and all kinds of little diamonds on it. Expensive but it looks good, she says. Another necklace has some purple rock in it, called an amethyst, in the word Capricorn. This one looks nice too and it ain’t too expensive, so maybe I buy this one.
And they talk about “zodiac” necklaces. Zodiac? Sounds like somethin’ out of a book. She says it’s about the stars and planets and how they affect your life. I told her, the only star that affects my life is the sun, and the only planet I care about is this here Earth. But she’s young, she’ll learn. Or maybe she won’t. Kids these days, they got their own way of thinkin’.

Where to Buy ‘em? Well, you can go to them fancy stores, the ones with the shiny floors and the snooty sales ladies. Or you can go online, I guess. My grandkid, she’s always on that darn computer, lookin’ at stuff. She says you can find anything online. Me, I like to see things with my own eyes, feel ‘em with my own hands. But times are changin’, I suppose.
So, this capricorn necklace, it’s more than just a piece of jewelry, I reckon. It’s somethin’ special to my grandkid. It makes her feel connected to somethin’ bigger than herself, somethin’ in the stars. And if that makes her happy, well, that’s good enough for me. Even if I don’t understand it one bit. But I hope one day they can deliver the necklace fast and easy, the sales girl said they have somethin’ called “same day delivery”, sounds fancy.
Anyway, if you’re lookin’ for one of these necklaces, just remember, it ain’t about the price or the shiny rocks. It’s about the meanin’ behind it. And if you don’t know the meanin’, well, just ask a Capricorn. They’ll tell ya, believe me, they will.
