Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Southwest Airlines Gemini Jet for a while now. I’m a huge fan of Southwest, and I love collecting model airplanes, so this was a no-brainer. Here’s how I went about getting one and what I think of it.
Finding the Right Model
First, I started looking around online. I wasn’t super picky about the exact model, but I did want it to be in good condition. I figured I’d check out the popular auction webside and online retailer first.
I found some older Gemini Jets models, and those were pretty tempting. They looked super detailed. But a bunch of different options popped up, different liveries, different scales… I decided to go with a newer release just to be safe. Newer usually means better condition, right?
The Purchase
I ended up getting a 1:400 scale Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700. It’s the classic “Canyon Blue” livery. It set me back about the normal retail price for the planes, which I was fine with. It was a little bit of an impulse buy, but I was excited!
Unboxing and First Impressions
When the package showed up, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I ripped that box open! The model itself was packaged really well, nestled in that fitted foam. No worries about it getting banged up during shipping.
My first thought? Man, this thing is tiny! But in a good way. The details are incredible for something so small. The paint job is perfect, the logos are crisp, and even the little antennas are there.

- The landing gear is surprisingly detailed.
- The wings have all the correct markings.
- It even has the tiny “Southwest” logo on the winglets!
Displaying the Model
I found that the place is perfect for my new Southwest plane on my room! The details, the size, everything is perfect for me.
Overall, I’m super happy with my Southwest Airlines Gemini Jet. It’s a great addition to my collection, and it reminds me of all the good times I’ve had flying with Southwest. If you’re a fan of the airline or just love model planes, I definitely recommend picking one of these up!
