Okay, here’s my blog post about making the Miaou Libra corset, written in a casual, conversational style, and following the provided example’s tone and structure:
Alright, so I decided to tackle the Miaou Libra corset. I’d seen it all over my feed, and I was like, “I can totally make that!” Famous last words, right?
First, I gathered my materials. This involved a trip to the fabric store that took way longer than it should have. I mean, who knew there were so many shades of… everything? Eventually, I settled on a nice, sturdy fabric (I’m going for that snatched look, you know) and some boning. Don’t even get me started on the boning. Plastic? Steel? Spiral? Too many choices!
The Pattern Struggle
I have using pattern, printed out the pieces, and taped them together. That part’s always a bit of a pain, it’s like a giant, fabric-y jigsaw puzzle. I swear, half the battle is just making sure you’ve got all the pieces facing the right way.
Cutting and Sewing… and Unpicking
Then came the cutting. I carefully pinned the pattern to my fabric and started snipping away. I thought I was being so precise, but let me tell you, there was definitely some wonky cutting happening.
Sewing it together was… an experience. My sewing machine and I have a love-hate relationship. Sometimes it’s my best friend, and other times it’s the bane of my existence. Let’s just say there was a fair amount of unpicking and re-sewing involved. More than a fair amount, honestly.
- Pin, pin, pin. Seriously, use all the pins.
- Sew slowly. It’s not a race. (Even though I totally treated it like one sometimes.)
- Don’t be afraid to unpick and redo. It’s better to get it right than to rush it.
Boning Bonanza
Next up, the boning. Inserting those channels was tricky! I felt like I was wrestling an octopus. I managed to get them all in, though, and I have to say, it started to look like an actual corset!
Finishing Touches
Finally, it was time for the finishing touches. the binding, a few adjustments and done! It wasn’t perfect, that’s for sure. I even did it all over again, to iron out those little imperfections!
But you know what? I made it! And it actually fits! And I’m pretty darn proud of myself.
