Well, howdy there! Let’s gab a bit about this… uh… “capricorn flower” thing, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, don’t it? My grandpappy used to say, “Flowers is flowers,” but I guess city folks got names for everything.
So, I hear tell there’s this flower, a pansy, they call it. Now, ain’t that a funny name? Sounds like somethin’ a little sissy, but they say it’s tough as nails, just like us country folk. This pansy flower, it blooms whenever it darn well pleases, even in the cold. They say that’s why it’s the flower for them Capricorn folks. You know, the ones born around Christmas time? They’re supposed to be stubborn and keep on goin’, just like that flower.
And get this, this pansy ain’t just pretty, it’s got meanings too. Them Frenchies, they say it means thoughts and feelings. And thinkin’ hard, too. Which, I reckon, is why them Capricorn folks are always so serious. Always plannin’ and schemin’, just like my ol’ rooster plannin’ his escape from the coop.
Then there’s this other plant, a jade plant. They call it a money tree! Can you believe it? If plants grew money, I’d have a whole forest of ’em! But no, it’s just a plant, looks kinda like them little green rocks the rich folks wear. They say this jade plant brings good luck and helps you get rich. Fits right in with them Capricorns, always wantin’ to get ahead, just like my neighbor trying to grow bigger tomatoes than me.
Now, I also heard tell about some other flowers tied to when you’re born. January, that’s when them Capricorns mostly show up, right? Well, January’s got carnations and snowdrops. Carnations, they’re all frilly and smell sweet, like somethin’ you’d put in a church. And snowdrops, well, they’re little white things that pop up even when there’s still snow on the ground. Tough little fellers, just like those pansies.

- Pansy: The main Capricorn flower, tough and blooms whenever.
- Jade Plant: The money tree, for good luck and gettin’ rich.
- Carnation: Frilly and sweet-smellin’, for January babies.
- Snowdrop: Little white flowers that show up early.
But you know, all this talk about flowers and birth signs, it’s a bit much for me. Back in my day, a flower was just a flower. You planted it, it grew, and you enjoyed it. But I guess it’s nice to think that some flowers are special, just like some folks are special. And if a pansy helps a Capricorn feel a little tougher, or a jade plant helps ‘em get a little richer, well, I say more power to ‘em. Just don’t forget to water ‘em, that’s all I gotta say.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this here capricorn flower business. Hope it makes some sense to you city slickers. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my own flowers. Ain’t no fancy names for ‘em, but they sure do brighten up my porch.
And one more thing, they say roses, them pretty things with the thorns, they also tell a lot about folks. Love and peace and all that. But mostly I just see ‘em at weddings and funerals, so I guess they mean somethin’ important, even if I don’t rightly understand it all. Flowers is complicated, just like people I reckon.
