Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to repaint my living room for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge and do it. I’d heard good things about Benjamin Moore paint, especially this color called “Constellation” that’s part of their Affinity Collection. Seemed like a good place to start, right?
First, I needed to find a store that actually sold Benjamin Moore. I did a quick search online, and it turned out that my local Ace Hardware carried it. Score! I hopped in my car and drove over there.
Once I got to Ace, I headed straight to the paint section. It was pretty big, and I was initially a little overwhelmed. I started looking for the Benjamin Moore display. There it was, all neat and organized with tons of color swatches. I spent a good chunk of time browsing, but I kept coming back to that “Constellation” color, AF-540. I don’t know, it just spoke to me, I guess.
Next, I had to figure out what kind of paint I needed. The guy at the counter was super helpful, though I did ask him about that “waterborne alkyd high gloss enamel” stuff. He explained that it was a good choice for durability and had a nice sheen. But since it was for my living room walls, we decided on the interior matte finish instead.
I also grabbed some supplies while I was there – you know, rollers, brushes, painter’s tape, drop cloths, the whole nine yards. I’ve learned from past paint jobs that it’s always better to be prepared.
Once I got home, I spent the next few hours prepping the room. Moved the furniture, taped off the edges, and laid down the drop cloths. It’s a lot of work, but it’s super important if you want the paint job to look good.

Finally, it was time to paint! I popped open the can of Constellation and started rolling it onto the walls. It went on really smoothly, and the color was even better than I expected. It’s this beautiful, calming, kind of mysterious blue-gray. I did two coats to make sure it was nice and even.
After a few hours of painting and some drying time, I peeled off the tape and moved the furniture back in. I gotta say, the room looked completely transformed. That Constellation paint made such a huge difference. I’m really happy with how it turned out.
- Step 1: Found a store that sells Benjamin Moore (Ace Hardware).
- Step 2: Chose the color “Constellation” from the Affinity Collection.
- Step 3: Picked the right type of paint (interior matte).
- Step 4: Bought all the necessary supplies.
- Step 5: Prepped the room for painting.
- Step 6: Painted the walls with two coats.
- Step 7: Enjoyed the amazing transformation!
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I repainted my living room with Benjamin Moore’s Constellation. It was a bit of a project, but totally worth it. I am enjoying the new paint now.
