Alright, alright, let’s talk about them words, you know, the ones that start with L-E-O. I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, but I can tell ya a thing or two about words, see? My old man, he used to say, “Words are like eggs, gotta handle ‘em careful or they’ll crack.” So, here we go, let’s crack open some LEO words.
First off, there’s Leo itself. That’s a name, like for a person, or maybe a lion, you know, the big cats with the roar? My neighbor’s kid, little tyke, he’s named Leo. Always running around, yelling like a banshee. Kids these days, they got too much energy, I tell ya.
- Then there’s Leodice. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like somethin’ out of a them history books. Probably some queen or somethin’. I ain’t never met no Leodice, that’s for sure. Folks ‘round here got names like Mary and John, good solid names.
- And then we got leodicid and Leodicidae… and some other long ones like leodicids. Them words sound like somethin’ you’d find in a doctor’s office. All them “cides” and “daes”… sounds like killin’ somethin’ or other, or maybe some kinda bug. Don’t much care for them kinda words, makes my skin crawl.
- Then you got Leonardian. Now that sounds a bit more familiar. Like maybe somebody named Leonard, you know? My cousin’s husband’s brother, he was a Leonard. Good man, always helped out with the harvest. Passed on a few years back, bless his soul.
Then there’s leoncito and leoncitos. Now, them words sound kinda cute, don’t they? Like little baby lions or somethin’. Reminds me of my old cat, Whiskers. She was a mean one, always scratchin’ at the furniture. But she was a good mouser, kept the barn clear of them pesky critters. And there’s also words like leone and leones. Sounds like something you would shout at a show. “Leone! Leone!” I guess.
Then we got Leonese. That sounds like a place, maybe? Like where them Leonese people come from. Like Chinese come from China and Japanese come from Japan. I ain’t never been to Leonese, wherever that is. I ain’t been much of anywhere, really. Just this little town my whole life. But that’s alright by me. I like it here. People know you. They help you out.
Now, somebody told me there’s games you play with words too. Like that Scrabble game. You put letters together and make words. I tried it once, but it was too confusing for me. All them letters, jumbled up like a sack of potatoes. And people askin’ if a word is “playable”? What’s that even mean? If you can say it, you can say it. Ain’t no playin’ about it. And them “anagrams”? Lord have mercy. Sounds like somethin’ the devil invented to torment old folks like me. Too much thinkin’ involved, you know?
And then they talk about letter sounds, like the “leo” sound. Well, the “L” makes a “luh” sound, like in “love” or “luck”. The “E” makes an “eh” sound, like in “bed” or “red”. And the “O” makes an “oh” sound, like in “go” or “no”. Put it all together, and you got “leo”. Simple as that. Ain’t no need for all that fancy talk, you know? Just plain English, that’s what I like. My mama always said, “Speak plain, speak true.”
And they talk about 5 letter words and such. Well, “Leo” is a 3 letter word all by itself! You don’t need no more than that, do ya? Sometimes the shortest words say the most, you know? Like “love” or “hate” or “home”. Them words mean somethin’. They hit you right here points to chest, you know?
So, there you have it. A whole mess of words that start with “leo”. Some long, some short, some fancy, some plain. But they’re all just words, you know? Just sounds we make with our mouths. But them sounds can mean a lot, so you gotta be careful what you say.
